Honestly after seeing the TikTokers partially moderate a Q&A at The Life of Chuck, I thought to myself that this just seemed like TIFF was somewhat exacerbating how hard it is to break through as a film journalist. It's also part of why I stopped staying for audience Q&A's half the time tbh.
I was at that same screening of The Life of Chuck and the tiktok personality there barely did anything, mostly stood there while the moderator did more of the asking. It felt more like a gimmick at best. I totally get film journalists using TikTok as a platform to promote their work, given the limited amount of publications right now. Couldn’t help but wonder what the journalists in the room felt.
