I'm not unconvinced this whole thing isn't actually Musk's intent - to make misinformation and disinformation more rampant - but it's impact in fandom spaces is just... so bad. It's gonna keep getting worse.

Totally agree. The whole "town square" idea just becomes a breeding ground for disinformation and harmful ideas. I've also seen some fandom spaces saying not to trust what's being reported and only believe fan accounts. It was a big yikes :/

My very initial thought: perhaps it’s time we become comfortable with knowing less rather than spreading (intentionally or otherwise) misinformation just so it looks like we know our stuff.

Nonetheless, damn you, Grimes’ ex.

I’ve been thinking seriously about deleting the app from my phone. I might just do it to completely unplug. But unfortunately my work still relies on it (sigh)

Same here. I've had the same thoughts for Facebook, too. But here I am, joining Instagram (and Threads) after a decade of resisting in the name of reach...

The main reason I'm still on Twitter (or X now, blergh) is to keep up with fandom. There's nothing quite like it, and it sucks so much that it's just been gutted the way it is. I am already mourning the loss of what it was, and it does seem like it's only going to get worse. Sigh.

Maybe it's time for Tumblr to make a comeback 🤔

That was a simpler time!

I couldn’t take the fan wars anymore, so I deleted Twitter yesterday. Going on Twitter was making me feel bad.

Nothing wrong with preserving your mental health! I agree, a lot of the fan wars have gotten to be too much

So true. The blue check mark, like everything in the former Twitter, is turned upside down. Means little. Twitter is a damaged platform run by a fool.

Sadly.

What used to be a symbol of a trustworthy source has now become completely meaningless. I already miss the good ol' days on Twitter
